CIET has carried out major cycles on this subject in Mexico (Microregional Planning), Nepal (Cycle III: Diarrhoea, Water and Sanitation) and Pakistan (Community Voice in Planning). Water also figures in emergency assessments such as that in Nicaragua in 2002. A key feature of these studies is the discussion of survey results with the communities themselves in order to identify obstacles to behavioural change and practical ways of overcoming these obstacles, as well as the involvement of community representatives in discussing solutions with local, regional and national authorities.
