CIET has had contacts with the Instituto de Etnobiología in Cota,

Colombia,

since the late 1990s. In 2003, a representative of the Instituto participated actively in the Ottawa Colloquium on Ethics in Aboriginal Health Research.

The Instituto, in collaboration with a group from the University of Rosario in Bogotá, has launched a project called Gestores Comunitarios de Salud (community health agents) which has received support from CIET.
